The decade before the product title.
Jeff's first decade of work shaped how he thinks about systems before he ever held a product title.
He started inside the Pepsi Manager Trainee Program, where he led a team of warehouse pickers and co-owned a full-service vending route. He was promoted to Hydration Sales Rep, then again to Foodservice Sales Rep, managing restaurants, hotels, recreation accounts, and small-format convenience fountain accounts. By the time he transitioned into business roles at Inmar, he had already learned what most product leaders never see firsthand: that throughput, variance, and operational reality decide whether a strategy actually ships.
That ground-level operating experience is why Jeff reads operations natively. Supply chain software was not a leap. MarTech wasn't either. And when he began designing AI systems for production, he started from constraints, not features.
“AI doesn't fix a messy process. It amplifies it. My job is to make sure the process is worth amplifying first.”
Product Leadership Career
Twelve years of product work. Named clients. Quantified outcomes.
Inmar Intelligence
2012 to 2021Business Development Manager + Performance Analytics Consultant
Feb 2012 to Oct 2014, concurrent dual report
Jeff held a true dual reporting structure during this stretch, with one manager for business development and one for performance analytics. The combination gave him simultaneous exposure to revenue strategy and operational measurement, the two surfaces he would later integrate as a product leader.
Anchor outcome: Led the analytics engagement that saved a leading U.S. auto parts retailer over $400,000 in operating cost, lifted Inmar's revenue from the account by 24%, and secured a three-year contract extension between Inmar and the retailer.
Product Owner II, B2B SaaS Supply Chain
2014 to 2018
Owned a B2B supply chain SaaS platform serving enterprise retailers. Sequenced engineering capacity against operational constraints from named retail clients, built requirements discipline, and converted reactive feature work into intentional roadmap execution.
Senior Product Manager, MarTech SaaS
2018 to 2021
Joined Inmar's MarTech division with full product management responsibilities, then promoted to Senior Product Manager of the MarTech SaaS platform within his tenure. Owned product strategy for digital promotion and shopper marketing platforms used by the nation's largest automotive retailers (super dealer groups).
Revolution Technology Company
2020 to 2021Founder
2020 to 2021
Founded Revolution Technology Company and conceptualized RevTech Auto Club, a vehicle subscription platform designed to enable car dealerships to monetize idle inventory while offering members flexible driving options across subscription tiers. As Founder, with primary responsibility for product and operations, Jeff led business model design, platform architecture, and the operational frameworks needed to launch the two-sided marketplace. The venture reached concept stage but did not reach revenue. Early-stage operating experience that informed Jeff's later AI Voice startup work at Talent Frequency.
SpinSleeve
2020 to 2021Co-Founder
2020 to 2021
Co-founded SpinSleeve, a protective hardware accessory engineered to prevent the most common rust and corrosion failure modes affecting Peloton bikes and other at-home connected fitness equipment. Identified a real consumer pain point, sourced manufacturing partners, and shipped a functional prototype. The path to commercial production required injection-mold tooling investment above the limits of the founding team; without external capital, the venture did not progress past prototype stage. Demonstrated rapid concept-to-prototype execution in a hardware category, parallel to the Revolution Technology Company venture in the same period.
Derive Systems
2021 to 2024Head of Product, Enthusiast Brands
2021 to 2024
Led product for Derive's automotive performance portfolio, including the Bully Dog and SCT Performance brands. Work spanned hardware-software integration, performance tuning platforms, and the direct-to-consumer commerce experience. Established prioritization discipline that aligned engineering, hardware, and marketing under a unified roadmap inside a category defined by regulatory complexity and a passionate enthusiast user base.
Ylopo
2024 to 2025Senior Product Manager, AI Voice
April 2024 to May 2025
Led development and optimization of AI-driven voice follow-up systems serving the real estate industry. Measured conversion lift against human-led follow-up, tuned conversational models for compliance and customer experience, and treated voice AI as a managed product rather than an experimental capability.
Talent Frequency
2024 to 2025Co-Founder & Head of Product
February 2024 to June 2025
Co-founded an AI Voice company applying conversational AI to recruitment and internal mobility workflows. Led product strategy, designed the platform architecture, and drove the company through early due-diligence evaluations for a $1 million seed round. The team chose not to take outside funding in order to retain equity and optionality. Jeff exited the operating role in under 18 months.
“Building Talent Frequency taught me what I already suspected. AI is a product, not a feature. The companies that win in the AI cycle will treat their AI systems with the same rigor they would treat any production-grade product.”

Flagship initiative
EMET
An AI-powered Product Management Operating System built on the SPO framework. EMET is a conversational AI platform for product management teams that detects drift between strategy and execution, validates alignment, and supports better product decisions. EMET is the team-scale platform that PM AIOS users graduate into as their organizations adopt AI-native product operating discipline.
Claude Code plug-in for product managers
The PM AIOS
A Claude Code plug-in built to keep individual product managers operating at the velocity AI-accelerated engineering teams now demand. With AI-leveraged development moving up to three times faster than it did eighteen months ago, traditional product workflows (discovery, requirements, prioritization, and alignment) have become the new constraint. The PM AIOS gives product managers the structured AI leverage to keep pace, ensuring product leadership stays a force multiplier rather than the bottleneck.
Agent orchestration platform
Alicorn.AI
Agent orchestration platform for social media content workflows. Built specifically for small brand marketing teams and startup founding teams, for the sole purpose of generating supplemental social media posts to drive organic engagement.
Agentic OS for consulting, fractional, and advisory practices
The Advisory AIOS
An agentic AI Operating System that delivers multi-FTE operational throughput to consulting practices, fractional practices, and advisory businesses. Productized from the back-office system that runs The Product Unicorn. Includes a Finance agent swarm, CRM sync and pipeline analytics, transaction and performance insights, content automation, and a mobile control channel.
The Discipline that will define the next generation of Product Leadership
Product Led Automation™
The practice of building, governing, and operating AI and automation systems as managed products rather than unstructured experiments. Coined by Jeff Z Johnson in 2026. The methodology underpinning every Product Unicorn engagement.
Core Conviction
AI without product clarity creates noise.
Product clarity without execution creates stagnation.
Product Led Automation™ exists at the intersection of both.
The six principles.
01
Automation exists to create business leverage
If a system does not relieve a measurable constraint, it is not worth shipping.
02
Automation must be governed as a product
Defined owner. Defined users. Defined success metrics. Defined lifecycle.
03
Leverage is quantified before it is engineered
Throughput gain, decision-cost reduction, and hours returned are calculated before the build, not after.
04
Intelligence is applied where it scales judgment
AI replaces decision bottlenecks, not just repetitive clicks.
05
Systems beat workflows
A well-designed system absorbs requirement changes. A brittle workflow breaks.
06
Measurement is a gate
No proof of impact, no scale.
Strategize → Productize → Optimize
The Operating Framework
Strategize
Convert raw inputs into validated, prioritized, build-ready initiatives.
Productize
Ship validated product increments with execution integrity and scope control.
Optimize
Measure outcomes against intent, detect drift, and continuously improve.
“I coined Product Led Automation because the AI industry kept selling tools and workflows when the actual gap was product discipline. You cannot automate your way out of unclear requirements.”
